Our team has supported many life science and Biotech companies through technical transfer, process development, scale-up, qualification, validation, manufacturing, packaging, testing coordination and commercial supply.

That experience has taught us one important lesson: successful contract manufacturing requires far more than equipment and capacity.

It requires judgment, people who can recognise where a program is fragile, tell the truth early, and organise the technical, quality, regulatory, and commercial requirements into a practical plan.

Tom

Tom Burnell
Chairman of the Board

Tom Burnell is an Operating Team Member at 1315 Capital, a healthcare expansion and growth equity firm. Tom has a wealth of experience across healthcare including diagnostics, pharmaceutical services, laboratory services, dietary supplements, and contract manufacturing industries, with an outstanding track record of leading organizational change and orchestrating turnarounds, accelerating growth for startups, and facilitating post-acquisition integration. He has international business development experience spanning 38 countries on 5 continents, achieved triple-digit EBITDA growth in several businesses, and facilitated 39 M&A transactions, creating over $1 billion in shareholder value. 

Tom was a former Operating Partner at Ampersand Capital Partners, where he served as CEO and/or Executive Chairman of two Ampersand portfolio companies, and he is currently President and CEO of Interpace Biosciences, Inc., a 1315 Capital II, L.P. portfolio company. Tom has a B.S in Animal Science and an M.S. in Animal Nutrition from the University of Nebraska, and a Ph.D. in Nutrition, with an emphasis in Statistics and Biochemistry, from the University of Kentucky.

Stacy Sutton
Chief Operating Officer

Stacy Sutton brings 20+ years of experience in research, diagnostics and biopharmaceuticals to her role as SVP/GM Diagnostics & Life Sciences. Her entire career has been spent in contract testing and manufacturing services. She has experience working for both start-up and large multinational companies. Stacy held various roles of increasing responsibility through her tenure at Ajinomoto Bio-Pharm Services contributing in several areas to develop a solid foundation in Development, Technology, Manufacturing, Engineering, Facilities, and Quality Assurance. She headed cross-functional teams for establishment of new capabilities, equipment and facilities, including integration of an acquired technology through market launch. Stacy received her B.A in Animal Physiology from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). Stacy is a flourishing foodie who enjoys spending time with her husband and two energetic dogs.

Billy Burris
Chief Commercial Officer

Billy Burris serves as Chief Commercial Officer of Aluris Sciences, where he leads commercial strategy, business development, and strategic partnerships. With more than 16 years of experience, Billy has built his career helping organizations navigate complex markets, develop high-value customer relationships, and translate commercial opportunities into sustainable growth.
Before joining Aluris, Billy served as Vice President of Strategic Partnerships at Argonaut Manufacturing Services. He played a central role in the company’s growth and transformation, expanding its market presence, strengthening strategic customer relationships, and advancing commercial opportunities across the life sciences and contract manufacturing sectors.
 
Earlier in his career, Billy spent seven years in executive leadership roles with Palm Beach Development Group, focusing on corporate growth, partner development, financial analysis, and complex negotiations. He began his career as a Sales Executive with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he developed an enduring appreciation for brand building, customer engagement, and the power of strong relationships.
 
Billy holds an MBA and a Master’s degree in Sports Business Management from the University of Central Florida, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Rollins College. His professional experience spans Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Australia, providing him with a broad perspective on international markets and cross-border partnerships.
 
Known for his collaborative, people-first leadership style, Billy is passionate about building high-performing teams, creating meaningful customer value, and aligning commercial strategy with operational execution. Outside of work, he is deeply committed to his family and actively involved in youth sports.

Shanna

Shanna Kane
Director of Finance

Shanna Kane is Director of Finance and Accounting at Aluris Sciences, where she leads the company’s financial operations. She brings more than 20 years of experience in biotech and medical device startups, along with master’s degrees in accounting and finance. Shanna also serves as CFO/Treasurer and a board member for a local nonprofit organization.

Tom Chronopoulos
Director of MSAT

Thomas Chronopoulos brings a decade of experience in diagnostics and cGMP manufacturing to his role as Director, Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT). At Aluris Sciences, he heads all lyophilization activities, from process development through commercial production, across a portfolio spanning lyophilized products, analyte-specific reagents, and combination devices.
